How to Apply

Admission into the dance program is a multistep process. Students wishing to pursue a Dance BFA must apply to both the University and the School of Dance. For merit and talent scholarship consideration, please apply by the November 1 Early Action Deadline. Follow the steps below.

Part One

Apply to the university. Your application to the university must be on file prior to your audition. The early action and scholarship application deadline is November 1, the regular decision application deadline is February 1, and the transfer application priority deadline is March 1.

Apply to the School of Dance and schedule your audition

Audition Information

*Due to the continuing challenges of COVID we have made some revisions to our audition schedule for the 2022-2023 academic year. We will be offering both virtual and in-person options for this cycle.

October 16, 2021

Live information session and virtual master class with School of Dance Faculty.
Come dance with us and get to know us! This Zoom session is scheduled 12pm-2pm.
To register, contact with “October 16 master class” in the subject line.

October 22-24, 2021

Dancewave Dancing Through College and Beyond
The School of Dance will be participating in the Dancewave DTCB audition and college fair.

Choose one of these two audition dates:

November 6, 2021 (Apply to George Mason University by Nov.1) – Early Action Audition

Video Audition Panel Review of all early action video audition submissions. Please note that video submissions are due by November 3. Select applicants will be invited to a live virtual callback on Saturday, November 13.

February 5, 2022 (Apply to George Mason University by Feb.1) – Regular Application Audition

In-person campus audition. (Subject to change pending COVID protocols).

Video auditions will also be accepted at this time.
