Biography

Shanice Mason (she/her) is a Washington, D.C.-based dance artist, arts administrator, digital media consultant, and educator. Shanice’s skills, at the intersection of art and digital media, include graphic design, media production, and content creation. Her experience in storytelling and process-based work within digital media, teaching pedagogies, and choreography connects the creative aspects of artistic expression with technological innovation, fostering engaging narratives that resonate across diverse audiences.
 
Shanice has worked with various dance companies and choreographers, including Gesel Mason, MK Abadoo, Orange Grove Dance, S.J. Ewing & Dancers, and The Illustrious Blacks. In addition to her footprint in Washington, D.C., Shanice is a founding company artist of New York-based company Johnnie Cruise Mercer/TheREDProjectNYC, with whom she has toured nationally, served as process manager, and spearheaded the company’s fellowship program designed for undergrad and post-grad students. Shanice continues to build her educational practice with students ranging from K-12 to collegiate level. She’s had the pleasure of teaching at Appomattox Regional Governor’s School, American Dance Festival, Baltimore County Public Schools Fine Arts Dance Festival, Blacklight Summit, CityDance, Dance Exchange, Desales University, NYU Tisch Summer Residency Program, VIVA School of Dance, The Madiera School, Muhlenberg College, University of Maryland, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Shanice’s choreographic work has been shown at CityDance, Dance Place, The Clarice Performing Arts Center, VIVA School of Dance, and The Madeira School.
