About

Intensive training, immediate performance opportunities, and the resources of a major university — if you want it all, Mason's School of Dance is the place. Our conservatory training in a liberal arts setting comes with a rigorous curriculum of studio and theoretical study. This is enhanced by master classes and an impressive guest artist residency program that features emerging and renowned choreographers.

Welcome to the Mason School of Dance!

We think this is a very special place and here are a few reasons why…

Talented students come from all across the country and world in order to train with us, where the professional and academic worlds merge. We offer conservatory training within a liberal arts setting, in one of the nation’s most diverse and international Research 1 institutions. The campus bridges the best of both worlds, nestled in the suburbs of Washington D.C.

We keep our classes small, and this faculty-student ratio allows us to provide four years of individualized mentorship from our stellar professional faculty.

A vibrant guest artist residency series maintains a constant connection to the pulse of the current professional dance world. We provide a plethora of master class opportunities, assuring access to additional diverse techniques, perspectives, and artistic voices.

Our world-class facility includes 4 soaring, sun-filled studios, a conditioning lab and treatment room staffed by our full-time Athletic trainer, and a motion capture studio. Dance majors perform frequently on our many stages: our 2,000-seat Concert Hall, the glorious Opera House at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, our 450-seat Harris Theatre and intimate Performance Studio
