Kate Mattingly

Kate Mattingly has taught and written about dance for the last decade. In 1993 she graduated from Princeton University magna cum laude with a degree in Architecture: History and Theory and completed her Masters of Fine Arts at the TISCH School of New York University in 1996. There she performed works by William Forsythe and Amanda Miller and assisted Deborah Jowitt in the teaching of Dance History. Between 1996 and 2006 her writing about dance was published in The New York Times, The Village Voice, Dance Research Journal, Dance magazine, Pointe magazine, The Washington Post, and many other journals and publications. From 2000 to 2002 she was a member of the Nominating Committee for the New York Dance and Performance "Bessie" Awards. In 2005 she was invited by the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington DC to serve on the Dance Panel determining funding for U.S. companies, choreographers, and schools. In addition to writing about dance, she has lectured about Dance and Criticism in Russia, Hong Kong, Hungary, Finland and across the United States. She has taught ballet at New York University's TISCH School of the Arts, DOT 504 in Prague, Tanzquartier in Vienna, Austria, and is a certified Pilates and Yoga instructor. In 2008, she was the dramaturge for SommerSzene in Salzburg, Austria.
